At a stage where students are undergoing many physical, social and emotional changes, students require a focused approach in early adolescence to meet their specific needs.
Students in Years 5 and 6 are emerging from the directed learning environment of primary school, and are starting to think more independently and develop a greater sense of self. Students in Years 7 and 8 have emerged into a new environment that places importance on independence, but they still require support, structure and guidance to ensure that their changing needs are being met both within and outside of the classroom.
Being able to meet these different demands and provide a seamless transition for our students is at the heart of our Middle School philosophy.
Students in Years 5 and 6 still gain the benefits of one core teacher and their own classroom whilst enjoying the variety of specialist teachers in subjects such as music, dance, drama, language and PDHPE. Students in Years 7 and 8 enjoy the consistency of time with their Homeroom teacher every morning to provide the support needed as their independent learning journey begins. The students and staff are supported by Year Level Coordinators under the guidance of Head of Middle School Mr Jeremy Godden.
Subject areas available include:
Years 5 and 6 (Stage 3)
Years 7 and 8 (Stage 4)
Information Technology is integrated into all areas of Stage 4.
